SUBJECT- Update on Vietnam Unknown

ACTION MEMORANDUM

Attached is a memorandum to Cap Weinberger informing him of the recent decision of the Board of Directors of the National League of Families (NLF) not to support the interment of a Vietnam Unknown. The memorandum also generally updates Cap on our efforts for the ceremonies.

I believe the NSC has the matter with the NLF as well in hand as can be expected. Since the NLF is focusing on its perception that the Government' s commitment to their cause will be reduced and not an the wisdom of interring the designated remains, it seems the ceremonies will be relatively untainted.
