Gerard William Kiley

Jerry Kiley of Garnerville, NY, 78, passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his bedside on October 5, 2024. He is survived by his sister Mary Lou, sons Michael and David, and daughter-in-law Loryn. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Madison, Emma, and Lindsey.

Jerry was born in the Bronx, NY, to Edna and William Kiley on October 2, 1946. He and Olga met in 1966 at Rockaway Beach, followed by dancing at Fin McCool’s. They married in 1971 after his return from Vietnam. In addition to being a lifer at Con Edison, he dedicated much of the next 30 years of his life as an activist for POWs Missing in Action, earning the nickname “The Stealth Activist”.

After retiring, he spent the next 14 years cherishing time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and held a great sense of pride in. Whether they called him Pop or Coach, they had his constant support and devotion.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 11 th , from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, 73 N Liberty Dr, Stony Point, NY. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gregory Barbarigo, 25 Cinder Rd, Garnerville, NY, followed by a luncheon at Fireside Steal Pub, 84 N Liberty Dr, Stony Point, NY.

Jerry was a great advocate for the POW/MIA issue and a great friend of the Alliance of Families.
